CT4EU Report #5 - October - December 2025
Dear Supporters of the Campaign,
Dear Friends of Combined Transport,
2025 has been a remarkable year of growth and achievement for our CT4EU campaign. Our supporter base has expanded significantly to now 30 companies. This continued growth has enabled CT4EU to further extend its outreach across Europe, establishing the campaign as a true pan-European movement.
Several milestones were reached this year that have strengthened our sector's voice. We published the study "The Efficiencies of Combined Transport", which has become central to our campaign's narrative. This was followed by three successful webinars covering crucial topics: Combined Transport opportunities in the circular economy (100+ attendees), the importance of rail ferries for European logistics resilience (+150 attendees), AI applications in intermodal operations (+200 attendees). On 1 October, we also launched "The Intermodalist", our podcast addressing issues in our sector, we have started with military mobility.
One of the peak moments came at the CT4EU Intermodal Conference, which was co-organised with Fermerci at the Transport Logistic Fair in Munich on 4 June. Supporters and National Coordinators came to the stage to share their views and emphasise the tangible effects of the campaign. MEP Flavio Tosi (EPP), the Rapporteur of the Combined Transport Directive, attended the event, demonstrating that our campaign appeals not only to businesses but also to European decision-makers.
The organisation of National Coordinators' meetings has enabled us to gain a better understanding of local issues and identify synergies between UIRR's lobbying activities at the EU and national levels. We also launched our newly redesigned website and maintained our presence at key industry events, including the Intermodal Marketplace in Antwerp, the UIRR Terminal Technology Platform in Poznań, and the 6th European Intermodal Summit in December.
Looking ahead to 2026, CT4EU has prepared an ambitious programme of political events and webinars. Topics will include the French Energy Saving Certificate programme, Wagon and ILU innovation (February), STI telematics (March), the Weights and Dimensions Directive, Island supply and Military Mobility. "The Intermodalist" podcast series will carry on with new episodes covering eFTI, the Combined Transport Directive, the Capacity Regulation and other hot topics. As part of a significant new initiative, we are planning to organise a field trip for Members of the European Parliament and Attachés from the Member States to visit intermodal terminals. This will allow policymakers to witness transhipments and the technical precision of intermodal infrastructures firsthand.
Being united is essential to demonstrate that Combined Transport is the backbone of freight transport in Europe. Thank you to the whole CT4EU community — Happy New Year!
