CT4EU Report #2 January - March 2025

Dear Supporters of the Campaign,
Dear Friends of Combined Transport,

The first quarter of 2025 has seen a significant expansion of our supporter base to 16 companies. We bid welcome to Adria Kombi, Agieren, Eco Container Trans , Vegatrans , Drees & Sommer , Top Rail,
Rail Flow, Sicom Containers, Ports of Genoa, INFORM and Transa Spedition (DB Cargo Full Load Solutions)

As more supporters join the campaign, CT4EU is progressing on extending its outreach to more EU Member States including Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Slovenia, and even China. In addition, we held our first National Coordinators' meeting, marking an important milestone as we increase our focus on local policies, events and news coverage.

The study "The Efficiencies of Combined Transport”, which will drive the campaign's narrative, was also published and followed by two successful CT4EU webinars:

  1. Combined Transport Opportunities in the Circular Economy – This session provided businesses with information (insights)to prepare for implementation. We highlighted how Combined Transport is well suited for waste transportation due to its mass handling capabilities and safety advantages. This webinar attracted over 100 attendees.
  2. The Importance of Rail Ferries for the Resilience of Europe's logistics sector– This session addressed infrastructure challenges such as the Great Belt Bridge, which remains the main gateway to Scandinavia and yet restrict Combined Transport business because of past accidents. We also explored military resilience, with the Swedish government expressing interest in strengthening dual-use infrastructure, such as the rail ferry-compatible Port of Trelleborg. Colonel Dobbens from the European External Action Service emphasised the critical need for seamless military mobility across Europe, noting the vital role of rail ferries in connecting Scandinavia to the Continent. This webinar attracted 150 attendees.

In the coming months, we will continue expanding our outreach initiatives and focus on local implementation. Additionally, we will host a webinar on the business advantages of rail ferries for intermodal operators, and deliver our first podcast in the coming months.

Welcome to our new supporters and many thanks to the whole CT4EU community for making this campaign happen!
